Ubisoft announced it will release the final update (version 1.1.11) for Assassin's Creed Shadows on June 16, 2026, marking the end of major content support for the game [1, 2, 3]. Assassin's Creed Shadows launched on March 21, 2025. Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the game is set in 16th century Japan during the Sengoku period and features two protagonists, ninja Naoe and samurai Yasuke [2].

The game saw relatively little post-launch expansion, with just one expansion, "Claws of Awaji," released in its first year. This update frequency drew criticism compared to earlier Assassin's Creed titles like Valhalla and Odyssey [1, 3]. Some fans expressed disappointment about the quick conclusion of support and cut plans for additional content such as a scrapped co-op expansion. Reddit user galaxyadmirer wrote, "Still can’t believe this is how the game ended up. After all this time of waiting for a Japan setting and it just came and went," while ShawshankException called the ending "a letdown," saying, "The story ended the second it got interesting and then was entirely ignored in the DLC" [1].

Assassin's Creed Shadows was released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac at launch. It later expanded to Switch 2 in December 2025 [2]. The time between launch and the final update amounts to roughly 15 months of active major content support [1].

Separately, Ubisoft Singapore is preparing to launch Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced globally on July 9, 2026. The remaster, running on the new Anvil engine, features upgraded graphics, improved combat and stealth systems, naval mechanics, new story content, and Chinese voice-over support. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC [2].

The final update to Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released in one week, on June 16, concluding Ubisoft's major content work for the 16th century Japan title [1, 2, 3].
