Hiso Psi, younger brother of Singha beer group heir Hiso Pi, accused Pi of sexually abusing him for about 12 years starting when Psi was 10 or 11 years old. Psi released a roughly four-minute audio recording he said captured Pi admitting to the abuse, as well as allegations of abuse by a family nanny [1, 2, 3, 4].
Hiso Pi denied the allegations through a statement posted on social media by his wife, Thai actress Mild. He said the audio was a childhood argument apology and there had never been any sexual misconduct. "Those who know me understand I would never do anything so disgusting, especially to my own brother," Pi said [5, 6, 4].
Pi also said he spent most of his adolescence studying in the UK, living apart from Psi’s circle, and that the family had tried to support Psi’s well-being, including accompanying him for medical treatment. He said Psi had cut off all contact [5, 7, 4].
The scandal shook Thailand’s entertainment and business circles. Mild, who is pregnant, initially supported her husband but on May 16 announced she would temporarily leave him to reflect and care for her mental health [2, 6, 8, 9].
On May 19, the Boon Rawd Brewery Group, which owns Singha, announced it had immediately removed Hiso Pi from all his positions. The company condemned domestic violence and said it would cooperate with the ongoing investigation [8].
Psi alleged that after his accusations, their mother sued him for defamation and tried to reclaim property worth about 1 billion baht gifted by their grandfather amid inheritance disputes. Psi said the family long covered up abuse, including by the mother [1, 8, 10, 3, 4].
Psi, about 30 years old, said the abuse and family cover-up had deeply affected him, referring in the recording to Pi's admissions of abuse between ages 14 and 16 and the nanny's involvement [2, 11, 3]. He expressed pain over his mother supporting Pi legally while accusing him of damaging the family reputation [3].
Public reaction has been divided, with some praising Psi’s courage to report and others questioning the timing and financial motives amid inheritance battles [1, 3].
The police began investigating after Psi filed an official complaint on May 13, submitting the audio as evidence [1, 3]. The case remains under investigation, with further legal and family proceedings expected.
