Samsung released the world’s first 6K gaming monitor today with the 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS), featuring a 165Hz native refresh rate and Dual Mode switching to 3K resolution at 330Hz for high-speed gaming performance [1, 2, 3]. The Odyssey lineup also includes the 27-inch G8 (G80HF) model that supports a 5K resolution at 180Hz native refresh rate and Dual Mode switching to QHD at 360Hz, providing gamers flexibility between ultra-high resolutions and faster refreshes [2, 3].
The brand introduced OLED gaming monitors as well, such as the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH). It uses a 4K QD-OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, Samsung’s OLED Safeguard+ dynamic cooling technology, and a 5-layer Penta Tandem panel that delivers 1.3 times higher luminous efficiency and doubles the lifespan compared to previous generations [2, 3]. For more budget-conscious users, the Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH) offers UHD resolution with 165Hz or FHD 330Hz refresh rates via Dual Mode, featuring 0.03ms response time and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification [2, 3].
Samsung also expanded its ViewFinity series targeting professional creators. The 27-inch S80HF model features a 5K resolution, while the 40-inch S85TH offers WUHD 21:9 ultrawide format with Thunderbolt 5 support for enhanced multitasking and productivity [1, 2, 3]. The ViewFinity S85TH supports a max refresh rate of 144Hz, suitable for smooth creative workflows [2, 3].
According to a Samsung spokesperson, the company has led the global gaming monitor market for seven consecutive years, focusing on high-end display technology that adapts screen modes for gaming, work, and creative scenarios [3].
The new Odyssey and ViewFinity monitors began launching in Taiwan in late May 2026. Samsung has scheduled promotional sales for these models through September 30, 2026 [2]. This rollout marks Samsung’s first commercial release of 6K gaming displays and upgrades to professional monitors for the year.
