Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd announced a recall of 430 motorcycles across Malaysia starting May 25, 2026, citing safety-related technical problems [1, 2]. The recall affects 160 units of the CMX500A model made between 2023 and 2024, due to loosening of the handle lock screw [1, 2]. It also covers 270 units of the CBR650RAC model produced from 2024 to 2025, which face wiring harness short circuit issues [1, 2].
Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, director-general of the Road Transport Department (RTD), said affected owners will be contacted by Boon Siew Honda to arrange inspection appointments. Owners can also visit service centers directly for checks [2]. He added, "Any components identified as involved will be replaced at the cost borne by Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd. All vehicle owners of the involved models are requested to make plans to enable the recall and vehicle inspection process to be carried out as soon as possible" [2].
The RTD will monitor the inspections to ensure all recalled motorcycles are checked and certified safe before they return to the road [1, 2]. Replacement of defective parts during the recall will be fully covered by Boon Siew Honda [1, 2].
The recall is scheduled to begin nationwide on May 25, 2026, when inspections and repairs will start at authorized service centers across Malaysia [1, 2].
