Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegubard, pleaded not guilty June 25 in Sessions Court Seremban to a charge of publishing seditious material against the Negeri Sembilan royal institution via his Facebook account [1, 2, 3].

The charge alleges Chegubard published seditious content on Facebook under the account "Che GuBard" on May 26 at around 8:30 p.m. in Kuala Pilah [1, 2, 3]. He faces prosecution under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment up to three years, or both [1, 2, 3].

Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Sazali Omar proposed bail at RM10,000 and sought a gag order to prohibit statements about the Negeri Sembilan royal institution [1, 2, 3]. Chegubard's lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, applied for bail to be reduced to RM2,500 and objected to the gag order [1, 2, 3].

The court set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and ordered Chegubard to report monthly to the police station [1, 2, 3]. It dismissed the application for a gag order [1, 2, 3].

Chegubard’s next court mention date is set for August 3, 2026 [1, 2, 3].
