Datuk M. Nasir and his company Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd filed a lawsuit against MyTeksi Sdn Bhd on April 27, 2026, at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur. They allege MyTeksi used M. Nasir's name and brand without authorization to market a coffee beverage called "Kegemaran M. Nasir" on its platform [1, 2, 3].
The disputed advertisement was first posted on April 23, 2025, on the official MyTeksi Instagram accounts @grabmy and @grabfoodmy. It featured coffee labeled with "GrabFood" and "GrabMart" branding, captioned "M Nasir's favourite coffees" [1]. MyTeksi is a subsidiary of Grab [2, 3].
The plaintiffs claim the use of M. Nasir's name caused public confusion and damaged his reputation because no disclaimer clarified that he was not involved with the product [1]. M. Nasir's full name is Datuk Mohd Nasir Mohamed. Reports differ slightly on his age, listing him as either 68 or 69 years old [1, 3].
Luncai Emas and M. Nasir are seeking more than RM5 million in damages. The claims include RM3 million in exemplary damages and RM2 million in aggravated damages, along with general damages, interest, and costs [1, 2, 3]. They also seek an injunction to bar further use of his name and a court order requiring MyTeksi to disclose profits from sales of the beverages marketed under "Kegemaran M. Nasir" within seven days [2, 3].
MyTeksi has not issued any public response to the lawsuit as of June 12, 2026 [3]. The case management hearing is scheduled for June 29, 2026, via e-review before Deputy Registrar S Malarselvi [1].
