Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan confirmed the withdrawal after receiving official notification from the local council [1, 2, 3, 4].
Ramanan had publicly opposed the project on July 17, 2026, citing a lack of proper engagement with Kota Damansara residents before submitting the application [1, 2, 3, 4]. Residents raised concerns about potential traffic congestion, road safety risks, environmental impact, and the data centre's proximity to residential areas [2].
"From the start, my position has been clear. I am not against development or investment. But for large-scale projects that could affect the residents' lives, the people must have a say," Ramanan said [3]. He added that it was his responsibility as the elected representative to ensure residents’ voices were heard by the authorities and emphasized protecting the welfare of the people [3].
Ramanan also highlighted the need for transparency and responsibility in large developments. He stated future applications for projects in the Sungai Buloh constituency must include engagement sessions with local residents and stakeholders [1, 2, 3, 4].
"Development and investment are important, but they must go hand in hand with the people's welfare. I will continue to monitor the situation and ensure the voices of Kota Damansara residents are heard, and their interests protected," he said [1].
