Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin played golf at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort on July 19, 2020, alongside 14 other players including Azman Yussof and Adam, according to club records and digital registration systems showing their names registered in four groups that day [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Golf officials classified the game as a friendly match rather than a tournament, as it involved only 15 players, whereas tournaments normally have over 40 players in more than 10 flights. “Usually, when played in a small group, we call it a friendly game,” said S. Saravanan, a golf official. “In this case, there were 15 players.” [1]

The club’s digital registration recorded an invoice under Muhyiddin’s name for services at the golf club on that day. The fee was waived and listed as RM0, marked as complimentary by the club. [2] Azman Yussof, president of the Bumiputera Contractors Association, testified on August 27, 2026, at the High Court that he met Muhyiddin at the Tropicana event in July 2020. Azman said Muhyiddin told him, “Any PKBM members who wished to contribute to Bersatu could make the contribution directly to the party rather than to any individual party member.” [1, 4, 5]

Following the meeting, Azman’s company KCJ Engineering was awarded a RM62 million government road project under the Jana Wibawa scheme. KCJ Engineering later made a RM4.8 million donation to Bersatu [1, 4].

Muhyiddin’s lawyer disputed the July date of the golf event mentioned by Azman. According to the lawyer, the only Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf tournament held in 2020 took place in October, not in July, casting doubt on Azman’s testimony about meeting Muhyiddin in July at Tropicana [1, 2, 3].

The court heard conflicting claims on the event date. Some sources assert the meeting happened at the July 19 friendly game, while others maintain the official charity tournament was in October 2020.

Records show Muhyiddin’s name clearly registered to play golf on July 19 with 14 players. The ongoing legal process may clarify details on the timing and nature of the meetings.

The next scheduled hearing will address evidence related to the golf games and subsequent contracts linked to the Jana Wibawa scheme.
