His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, celebrated his official birthday on June 1, 2026, with an investiture ceremony at Istana Negara where 144 recipients were conferred Federal Awards, Medals, and Honours [1, 2, 3, 4]. The total number of federal awardees for 2026 reached 161 [2].
The ceremony was attended by Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah, Deputy Prime Ministers, Cabinet members including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, foreign envoys, and the diplomatic corps [1, 2, 5, 6]. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised the King’s leadership, saying, "Under Your Majesty's reign, the country continues to move forward in an orderly and confident manner, anchored on the principles of constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy" [7, 8, 2, 9, 6].
Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, aged 63, was the sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM), which carries the title ‘Tun’. He was appointed Malaysia’s 17th Chief Justice on July 28, 2025 [1, 3, 4]. National track cycling champion Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang received the Darjah Bakti (DB), Malaysia's highest honour, for his contributions to cycling and boosting Malaysia's international standing in the sport [1, 3, 4].
The Darjah Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN), which carries the title ‘Tan Sri’, was awarded to three prominent figures: Chief of Defence Force Gen Datuk Seri Malek Razak Sulaiman, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, and Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd executive director Datuk Dr Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman [1, 3, 4].
Sultan Ibrahim used the occasion to emphasize the importance of upholding the Rukun Negara principles. He stated, "Therefore, I urge all parties to uphold every principle of the Rukun Negara and to practise it as a guiding framework in daily life as Malaysians. Any Malaysian who refuses to adhere to the principles of the Rukun Negara, I advise, the person is not worthy of being called a Malaysian citizen" [10]. Yemen's Ambassador Dr Adel Mohamed Ali Ba Hamid said, "Under Sultan Ibrahim's reign, Malaysia continues to be admired internationally as a nation that upholds harmony, moderation, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence" [6].
