Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will operate eight additional KTM Komuter Utara train services on the Butterworth-Padang Besar route from August 27 to 31 to accommodate increased travel during school holidays and National Day celebrations [1, 2, 3].

These extra services will raise the total daily trips along the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route from 38 to 46 [1, 2, 3]. Four additional trains will run each way, increasing daily services on the Padang Besar-Butterworth segment from 19 to 23 and on the Butterworth-Padang Besar segment also to 23 [1, 2, 3].

KTMB expects passenger volume on this route to grow by 30% compared to normal days during the five-day period [1, 2, 3]. The added trains can accommodate up to 5,000 extra passengers daily, totaling approximately 25,000 additional travelers over the entire timeframe [1, 2, 3].

The increased capacity aims to provide more travel time options for passengers commuting between Penang, Kedah, and Perlis via public transport [1, 2, 3]. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consult the KTM Komuter Northern Sector Special Timetable effective from August 27 to 31 [1, 2, 3].

Travelers can access schedule and fare information through the KITS Style app, KTMB's official website, and social media channels [1, 2, 3].
