Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd (LCSB), which operates the Genting Highlands road network, will collect new road charges at two main entry points, Genting Sempah and Gohtong Jaya roundabout, starting May 28, 2026 [1, 2]. Drivers must pay by tapping Touch 'n Go, credit, or debit cards at these points [3, 4].
Private cars and vans (Class 1 vehicles) face a RM5 fee at each entry from May 28 [1, 3, 4, 2]. Medium lorries (Class 2) will pay RM15, heavy lorries (Class 3) RM25, taxis (Class 4) RM3.30, and buses (Class 5) RM5 at each gate [1, 2]. Motorcycles, emergency vehicles, and private vehicles of public servants working in designated government institutions in Genting Highlands are exempt from road charges [1, 3, 4, 2].
Vehicles in Classes 2 to 5 must use designated 'Lorong Khas' lanes or licence plate recognition (LPR) systems to enter [1, 2]. Starting June 28, 2026, eligible permanent residents of Genting Highlands can register up to two Class 1 vehicles to receive a 10% discount per entry and can also purchase six-month season passes for unlimited entries via LPR lanes [1, 2]. Until that date, registered permanent resident vehicles will not incur charges [1, 2].
LCSB trialled the road charge system without collecting payments from April 2, allowing time to test equipment and procedures before implementation [3, 4]. The private Jalan Genting Highlands road provides access to Resorts World Genting and other local tourist destinations [3, 4].
The second phase of the road charging system, beginning June 28, will introduce permanent resident discounts and seasonal passes. The new fees apply to most vehicles entering Genting Highlands from May 28.
