The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) received four reports related to alleged cash handouts during the Negeri Sembilan state election, which took place from July 18 to July 30, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman told reporters, "The reports received involve allegations of cash handouts and we will conduct further investigations into the matter." He added, "We opened an operations room in conjunction with the Negeri Sembilan state election, and as of yesterday, MACC had received four reports. Of that number, two involved candidates and two involved voters, with all complaints relating to allegations of cash handouts" [1, 5].
Political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharim, known as Chegubard, claimed police personnel allegedly received payments ranging from RM300 to RM500 during early voting [1, 3, 4]. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said investigations will be conducted transparently if police reports are lodged and that cases involving misconduct would be referred to MACC [1, 3, 4]. He emphasized, "All political programmes and activities held are monitored to ensure they comply with the law and do not disrupt public safety and order," and warned, "Any violation of the law would be dealt with firmly and fairly without compromise" [6, 7].
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also received 87 reports and opened 23 investigation papers related to alleged election offences during the campaign period from July 18 to July 30, 2026 [6, 7]. Authorities approved 761 out of 787 permit applications for ceramah and other political campaign activities during the period [6, 7]. Police continue to monitor political activities in Negeri Sembilan to ensure compliance with laws and public safety [6, 7].
