The Malaysian government has allocated RM50 million under the PKS@BURSA Programme to assist 200 high-potential small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in preparing to list on Bursa Malaysia by 2030 [1, 2]. Launched in June 2026, the programme aims to overcome barriers such as listing expenses and capacity requirements that SMEs often face when entering the capital market [1, 2].

Eligible companies can access financing ranging from RM2 million to RM5 million at a profit rate not exceeding 5% annually, with terms up to five years through the SME Listing Fund [1, 2]. This funding supports working capital, corporate financing needs, and expenses related to preparing for a public listing [1, 2].

Additionally, SMEs that successfully list on Bursa within five years of joining PKS@BURSA are eligible for a rebate of up to 20% to reduce listing costs [1, 2]. The programme includes a strong focus on capacity building to help SMEs meet governance and management standards necessary for capital market entry [1, 2].

SME Corp Malaysia will collaborate with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd, Bursa Malaysia, and other agencies to provide guidance and support throughout the listing preparation process [1, 2]. Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said at the programme's launch on June 4 that "our goal is not just to produce more listed companies but to produce more companies that possess the capacity to be listed. PKS@BURSA is one of the paths to realise that goal" [1]. He also noted, "the journey to listing requires companies’ readiness from a governance perspective, which may be a challenge for smaller companies" [1].

The programme’s launch event, officiated by Steven Sim Chee Keong, also introduced the ‘Road to IPO’ initiative to complement SME listing efforts [1, 2]. SME participants can expect continued technical assistance as they prepare to meet Bursa Malaysia’s regulatory and governance criteria.

The government’s RM50 million funding for PKS@BURSA reflects its commitment to increasing SME participation in the public market. The targeted deadline to help 200 SMEs achieve listing status on Bursa Malaysia is 2030 [1, 2].
