Malaysia’s Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced a RM5 million fund to support creative content production aligned with the Malaysia Madani vision today during the Festival Belia @ National Youth Day 2026 closing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur [1, 2, 3].
The "Dana Pemangkin Generasi Madani" (Madani Generation Catalyst Fund) will accept applications from June 1 to June 30, 2026. It aims to back local companies and youth organisations producing content that reflects Malaysia Madani’s values of identity, harmony, integrity, social unity, and respect for sensitivities around religion, race, and the royal institution, known as the 3Rs [1, 2, 3].
The fund—administered by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas)—supports five production categories: telemovies or telefilms, documentaries, short films, short documentaries, and animation [1, 2, 3]. Datuk Fahmi urged eligible parties to seize the opportunity to produce high-quality artistic works with positive social impact. He said, "I urge all eligible parties to seize this opportunity by submitting applications to continue creating, innovating and producing creative, high-quality artistic works that can bring positive impact to society and the country" [1].
Beyond funding, the ministry is advancing several creative youth initiatives, including workshops, the Reel Madani@Kampus programme, and Ikon Belia Kreatif Madani. These efforts are in partnership with the Malaysian Youth Council and Islamic Development Department Malaysia (Jakim) to build a stronger creative ecosystem [1, 3]. The MADANI@Kampus short video programme currently involves 15 government and private colleges producing videos that promote Madani values [3].
Datuk Fahmi also witnessed a Letter of Intent exchange between Finas and TikTok Malaysia to collaborate strategically in supporting ethical, competitive content creators. He stated, in Chinese, "FINAS与TikTok的合作,相信能通过产业支持、科技与更广泛的全球影响力,协助更多本地青年创作与推广,并将他们的创意作品带入国际市场" (Finas and TikTok’s collaboration is expected to use industry support, technology, and global reach to help local youth create and promote original content internationally) [3].
In addition, RM100,000 was allocated for joint programmes involving the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Finas, and the Malaysian Youth Council to enhance youth outreach efforts on the ground [2].
Applications for the RM5 million Madani Generation Catalyst Fund open June 1 and close June 30, 2026 [1, 2, 3].
