Malaysian police arrested a man holding the 'Datuk' honorific believed to be the mastermind behind a secret society-linked drug syndicate during a nationwide operation dubbed Op Gaurus from June 17 to June 21, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. The raid targeted drug syndicates in Perak, Klang Valley, and Johor.

In total, authorities detained 291 individuals, including 21 suspected secret society members and nine affiliated with the 'Datuk'-led group [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. The arrested suspects ranged from 19 to 74 years old, with five testing positive for drugs at the time of arrest [1, 4, 5, 6].

Police seized various narcotics valued at approximately RM6.26 million. Confiscated drugs included heroin, MDMA powder and pills, ketamine, ecstasy tablets, Erimin 5 tablets, and marijuana/cannabis [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Luxury and other vehicles were also seized, such as a Maserati Ghibli, Toyota Alphard, Toyota Vellfire, Mercedes-Benz CL250, Mazda, and Nissan Sentra. The Maserati alone is valued above RM300,000, contributing to an estimated total vehicle seizure exceeding RM700,000 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Additional assets included two Rolex watches and RM4,383 in cash [1, 4, 5, 6].

Bukit Aman NCID Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the syndicate’s modus operandi involved buying drugs in bulk, repackaging them, and distributing through entertainment outlets. He said the syndicate has operated since mid-2024 across Perak, Klang Valley, and Johor [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. "Among the biggest successes of this operation was the arrest of the syndicate's main mastermind in Taman Midah, Cheras, who holds a 'Datuk' title. The suspect is also believed to be the leader of a secret society," Datuk Hussein said [2].

Investigations are continuing under Malaysia's Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 [1, 4, 5, 6]. Datuk Hussein affirmed police would intensify efforts to dismantle active syndicates in the country [3].

A press conference detailing the arrests and seizures was held on June 26 by Bukit Aman NCID Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].
