Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh lodged two police reports over claims that houses in Taman Segar, Cheras were illegally converted from leasehold to freehold status [1, 2]. She denied any role in committees responsible for the land status change and called the allegations slander.

"I am not involved at all in the land committee responsible for changing leasehold status to freehold. So, this is clearly slander," Yeoh told reporters [1]. She added, "Police reports have been lodged, two police reports. We lodged one last night, and another one this morning" and urged the police to investigate while considering legal action over the allegations [2, 1].

The Federal Territory Land and Mines Office said the conversion was carried out following a Kuala Lumpur High Court order dated December 19, 2025, which ruled the 1978 leasehold conditions invalid as ultra vires [3]. The office said the landowners initiated the conversion through originating summonses and that no minister or elected representative was directly involved [3].

By May 12, 2026, a total of 226 land titles in Taman Segar had filed court summonses seeking conversion from leasehold to freehold ownership [3]. The Land Office stressed the process was legal and technical, driven by landowners, not political figures.

Yeoh also denied statements attributing any announcement about gazetting a field for public use or land status changes during a recent media conference in Taman Segar [1, 3, 2].

She filed the first police report on the evening of May 19 and a second one the following morning on May 20 [1, 2]. Authorities have yet to issue a public response to the complaints.
