Muhammad Faris Johari was installed as the 11th Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong on June 27, 2026, at Istana Besar Seri Menanti in Negeri Sembilan [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. The morning ceremony began with the Orang Empat Istana seeking royal consent before proceeding [1, 2, 4, 5]. Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, formally accepted the proclamation and declared Muhammad Faris the new Undang with the title Datuk Klana Petra [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Tuanku Muhriz said, “I am pleased to accept the proclamation of Muhammad Faris Johari as the 11th Undang Luak Sungei Ujong with the title Dato Klana Petra” [6].
The Dewan Keadilan dan Undang had earlier accepted the removal of the previous 10th Undang, Datuk Klana Petra Datuk Mubarak Dohak [1, 3, 6]. Tuanku Muhriz urged the new Undang and traditional leaders to stay loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar institution and maintain close ties with the palace. He said, “I remind my Orang Kaya (chieftains) to remain loyal to the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and to maintain a close and respectful relationship with me and the Palace” [2].
Muhammad Faris, 28, was born on October 30, 1997. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA and earned his ACCA qualification in 2022 [2, 4, 5, 6]. He is married to Sharifah Amirah Syed Ismail Ash-Shahab [2, 4, 5].
The installation ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz, Tunku Panglima Besar Tunku Zain Al-Abidin, and caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Following the morning proceedings, a royal audience ceremony was scheduled for the afternoon at Istana Besar Seri Menanti to formalise the installation of the 22nd Undang of Luak Rembau [1, 4, 5].
