Six Negeri Sembilan chieftains and rulers suspended Raja Norazli Raja Nordin as secretary of the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) on May 29, 2026, after he refused to convene a special meeting as ordered by the majority of DKU members and the Joint Rulers of Negeri Sembilan [1, 2].

The six leaders who called for the suspension are Datuk Mubarak Thahak, Datuk Maarof Mat Rashid, Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, Datuk Abd Rahim Yasin, Tunku Syed Razman, and Datuk Seri Badarudin Abdul Khalid [1, 2]. Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad said, “We are deeply angered and disappointed over the failure of Raja Norazli Raja Nordin to comply with our order and decree… to arrange the Special DKU Meeting today” [2].

Raja Norazli had issued a letter dated May 26 explaining that the special meeting could not be convened because the matter was subject to ongoing court proceedings referenced as “Saman Pemula NA-24NCvC-240-05/2026” [3, 4]. He stated, “DKU is unable to convene a special meeting as requested in view of the ongoing court proceedings” and warned that “any purported special meeting scheduled for May 29 would not be recognised as an official DKU meeting” [3].

The DKU is made up of permanent members who share collective authority and no one member holds unilateral or veto power, according to the group’s statement [1]. The six leaders accused Raja Norazli of acting without collective mandate and abusing his position since April 17, 2026 [1].

Following the failed attempt to hold the meeting on May 29, the Negeri Sembilan rulers have scheduled a new special DKU meeting for June 5, 2026 [2]. A special committee will temporarily take over the duties of the DKU secretary until the issue is resolved [2].
