He said, "As all honourable members are aware, the Subang MP submitted a letter to me relinquishing his membership as a member of the Dewan Rakyat, effective yesterday. I have notified the Election Commission of the vacancy of the Subang parliamentary seat" [2].
Following this, the Election Commission confirmed later on August 11 that no by-election would be held for the Subang seat. EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said, "No by-election for the P.104 Subang Parliamentary Constituency will be held" [1].
Wong Chen served three terms as the PKR MP for Subang since 2018. Before his resignation, he was the non-executive chairman of Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd until May 2026. He is 63 years old [2].
