Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim urged the Madani Government not to rush into holding the 16th General Election (GE16) and to complete its full term, expected to end in late 2027 or early 2028 [1, 2, 3, 4]. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should avoid hastily dissolving Parliament following PKR’s poor performance in recent state elections in Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan [1, 2, 3, 4].
On August 2, Hassan released a Facebook post titled "DON'T CRY PKR, Dunia Belum Kiamat," encouraging party members to rest, reflect on election results, reorganise strategies, and prepare carefully for the upcoming general election [1, 2, 3, 4]. "So, do not cry PKR. You are a reform party. We are fighters. We are brave enough to fight, brave enough to win and brave enough to face defeat," he said [2].
Hassan urged the government to govern fully until the end of its mandate to allow economic policies time to deliver tangible results and build public confidence [1, 2, 3, 4]. He called for the next 12 to 18 months to be focused on strengthening the economy, attracting more foreign direct investment, and boosting trust in the government’s performance [1, 2, 3, 4].
He said Parliament’s dissolution should only be considered once the public begins to experience benefits from economic reforms and sees a stronger economy [1, 2, 3, 4]. "Convince our leader Anwar Ibrahim not to act hastily. Encourage him to govern the country well until the full mandate ends, which is by the end of 2027 or early 2028," Hassan added [3].
Hassan reminded PKR members and supporters not to be discouraged by recent election losses, emphasizing their resilience as fighters for reform [1, 2, 3, 4].
