PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim called on Members of Parliament who attended a Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) event to clarify their reasons for doing so on May 24, 2026. He said an explanation was necessary to prevent confusion and speculation among party members [1, 2].
Muhammad Kamil said, "They should come forward and provide an appropriate explanation. If they do not take such steps and allow this matter to persist, they should not be upset if some party members continue to question their actions" [1]. He added, "For me, it is simple. They appeared on a platform under another party and they should come forward and provide the appropriate explanation. If they do not take such an approach, then they are allowing this issue to continue, and they should not be upset if others keep attacking them over it" [2].
The call followed the announcement on May 17, 2026, by former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli and former PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad that they left PKR to take over Bersama [2]. At the Bersama event, several current PKR MPs were seen attending, including S. Kesavan (Sungai Siput), Rodziah Ismail (Ampang), Wong Chen (Subang), and Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (Balik Pulau) [2].
Muhammad Kamil also downplayed the impact of the Bersama takeover on PKR's grassroots support, stating it would not have a major effect [1].
PKR Youth’s demand for transparency highlights tensions within the party following high-profile defections and efforts to assert party unity. The MPs who appeared at the Bersama event have yet to publicly comment or offer clarifications.
