The Sessions Court ruled on July 20, 2026, that the defence had raised reasonable doubt and that the prosecution failed to prove abetment beyond reasonable doubt, resulting in Zizie Izette's acquittal [1, 2, 3].
Bung Moktar, the principal accused, died on December 5, 2025 [1, 2, 3]. Following his death, the prosecution dropped the case against him, and the Sessions Court formally acquitted and discharged him on January 16, 2026 [1, 2, 3]. Judge Rosli Ahmad stated, "As a result of the discharge and acquittal order, the deceased is deemed to be an innocent man, as no finding of guilt was recorded against him. In other words, the prosecution has not yet been able to prove the offence of receiving a bribe against the deceased beyond reasonable doubt" [1].
The bribery case dates back to May 3, 2019, when Bung Moktar was charged with corruption offenses involving cash bribes totaling RM2.8 million linked to Felcra's investment [2, 3].
