Rapid KL will run all rail services including LRT, MRT, and the Kuala Lumpur Monorail 24 hours on August 30 and 31, 2026 to support National Day celebrations in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur [1, 2, 3]. Alongside trains, selected bus routes, the Sunway BRT line, and Rapid KL On-Demand services will also operate nonstop during these two days [1, 2, 3].
To manage passenger flow, train frequency on key routes will be increased and adjusted dynamically based on real-time congestion. Additional trains will be deployed as needed to reduce platform crowding [1, 2, 3]. More than 5,000 frontline personnel will work in shifts across both days to oversee crowd control and safety at stations and on vehicles [1, 2, 3].
Rapid KL will provide 103 free shuttle buses running on two routes in Putrajaya. The MS01 shuttle will run from Putrajaya Sentral to Precinct 2 starting at 2 pm on August 30 until 2 pm on August 31. The MS02 shuttle route between Putrajaya International Convention Centre and Precinct 3 will operate from 4 am to 2 pm on August 31 only [1, 2, 3].
The 24-hour services aim to help the public travel easefully for the Merdeka Eve celebration on the night of August 30 and the National Day event on the morning of August 31. Rapid KL advises commuters to plan their journeys early, keep sufficient balance on Touch 'n Go cards, and follow staff instructions especially at busy stations to avoid delays and congestion [1, 2, 3].
The 24-hour train and bus operations start from 2 pm on August 30, with shuttles running through the afternoon of August 31. All services will wind down after 2 pm on National Day [1, 2, 3].
