The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has opened a disciplinary investigation into an officer who went viral for allegedly insulting local residents while travelling in China. The officer, also a social media influencer, remains on active duty pending the inquiry, which could extend beyond internal discipline if laws were violated abroad [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

The video shows the officer shouting inappropriate remarks and covering her nose in a public place in China. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail urged calm and stressed the importance of proper conduct by all personnel both on and off duty. "I urge all parties to remain calm as police will conduct a thorough investigation. Apart from disciplinary aspects, appropriate action will also be taken if any breach of the law is established," he said [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Khalid also stated the investigation will comply with standard operating procedures and relevant laws [5].

Separately, PDRM is prepared to seek assistance from international agencies like Interpol and Aseanapol to combat illegal gambling and match-fixing syndicates linked to the FIFA World Cup 2026 [6, 7]. Since June 11, an ongoing operation named Op Soga XI led by Bukit Aman CID has arrested 58 individuals suspected of involvement in illegal betting. Authorities seized RM25,684 in cash and uncovered RM488,582 in suspected betting proceeds. The crackdown also detected 42 websites promoting illicit gambling activities [6, 7].

Officials noted that syndicates increasingly use technology such as online apps, digital platforms, and smart devices to conduct betting discreetly without physical premises [6, 7].

On June 23, Mohd Khalid officiated the 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association of Malaysia (RESPA) at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training College. He expressed hope the government would reconsider the warrior's allowance rates for retirees, which have not been reviewed since 2009—17 years ago [6, 2, 3, 4, 7].

The disciplinary investigation into the viral video commenced on June 23, and Op Soga XI began arrests and seizures on June 11, with ongoing efforts against illegal betting networks continuing.
