Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa were appointed PKR vice presidents during the Central Leadership Council monthly meeting held today in Batu Pahat, Johor [1, 2, 3]. Saifuddin, formerly the party’s secretary-general, and Zaliha, currently Johor PKR chairman, will strengthen the party’s organisation and operations at the central level, said Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, adding the appointments "are aimed at further strengthening the party's organisation and operations at the central level" [2, 3].

The PKR National Congress, originally scheduled for June 26–28, 2026, has been postponed to August 14–16, 2026. The congress will still take place at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh, Melaka [4, 2, 3]. Fahmi said the postponement "is to allow time, particularly for PKR in Johor and Negri Sembilan, to strengthen preparations for the upcoming state elections" [2]. He added it "was made to give space, especially to Johor and Negeri Sembilan PKR to enhance their preparedness in facing the upcoming state elections (PRN)" [3].

The Johor state assembly was dissolved on June 1 following the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail [3]. Pakatan Harapan (PH) Johor has announced it will contest all 56 seats in the 16th Johor state election [3]. In the 2022 state election, Barisan Nasional won 40 seats, Pakatan Harapan 12, Perikatan Nasional 3, and MUDA 1 [3].

PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will launch the state Pakatan Harapan machinery for the Johor state election on June 8, 2026 [3].
