TNG Digital Sdn Bhd unveiled a redesigned interface for its TNG eWallet app on June 4, introducing a reorganized homepage with four quick-access hubs: GOfinance, Near Me, Bills, and Transport to reflect its expanded role as a digital lifestyle platform beyond payments [1, 2, 3].
The shift is marked by non-payment revenue now constituting more than 50% of TNG Digital's total income, a major change from its earlier focus on payment services alone [4, 1, 2, 3]. Cross-border, remittance, and international services contribute about 10% of company revenue, up from near zero several years ago [4, 1, 2, 3].
TNG eWallet serves over 26 million verified users, with 13.5 million active monthly users primarily in Malaysia. These users engage with the app about twice daily on average [4, 2, 3]. The platform’s monthly total payment volume is close to RM1 billion, with cross-border transactions making up several hundred million ringgit of that amount [4].
CEO Alan Ni said the platform aims to be an everyday digital companion. He stated, "TNG eWallet is no longer just a payment app. Malaysians are using us to manage different parts of their everyday lives, from growing their money and travelling overseas to paying bills and earning rewards" [1]. The same sentiment was reflected in the Chinese language statement by 倪翔, highlighting the expanded uses from wealth management to travel and bill payments [2].
The new homepage is designed for simpler navigation and improved user experience, helping users quickly access key features tied to finance, location-based services, bills, and transportation [1, 2, 3]. The app’s growing focus on non-payment functions and cross-border offerings underscores its evolving business model.
TNG Digital plans to monitor user engagement and revenue growth under the redesigned format going forward, aiming to deepen its footprint as a versatile lifestyle platform across Malaysia and international markets.
