The trial of businessman Datuk Mahadi Badrul Zaman, his company AUF MBZ Consortium PLT, and company director Muhamad Iqbal Mohamad is scheduled to begin on March 29, 2027, at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur. The trial will run over 17 days, concluding on July 14, 2027 [1, 2].

Mahadi is accused of conducting unlicensed securities business from a villa in Sunway South Quay, Subang Jaya, between September 3, 2021, and February 15, 2024, on behalf of AUF MBZ, which did not hold a valid Capital Markets Services Licence during this period [1, 2].

Muhamad Iqbal Mohamad, the company director, faces charges of abetting AUF MBZ in the offence at a premise located in Taman Pinggiran Putra, Seri Kembangan [1, 2].

Both defendants are charged under Subsection 58(1) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. The offences carry penalties under Subsection 58(4), with a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a RM10 million fine, or both [1, 2].

The prosecution plans to call 25 witnesses to testify. Securities Commission Deputy Public Prosecutor K Mageswary said, "The prosecution expects to call 25 witnesses. We have handed over several volumes of documents to the defence, and the remainder will be served in the near future." [2]

The trial dates have been fixed as March 29-31, April 19-21, April 26-27, May 10-12, June 14-16, and July 12-14, 2027 [1, 2]. The cases will be tried jointly under Section 170 of the Criminal Procedure Code as they involve the same transactions [1, 2].
