Winners were chosen across several categories, including junior, traditional, unusual, and veteran mullet [1]. The overall 2026 champions are a duo called BesaMulet, made up of Berenice, 44, and Samuel, 46, who were crowned on May 24 [1]. David Hubert, also known as Edgar Funkel, said, “The mullet is open—to others, to difference, to adventure. It has a wild side.” Lolita Demoustiez, known as Dalita, added, “What matters is that the person carrying the mullet truly embodies values such as tolerance, kindness and the freedom to be oneself.”
Among competitors was 60-year-old Belgian Christine, who credited her mullet hairstyle with helping her through a difficult time and improving her mood. She said, “It feels absolutely brilliant, and I still haven’t taken any antidepressants. Long live the mullet!” [1]
