A 48-year-old man was injured in his leg and exhausted while climbing Gunung Chemerong near Pasir Raja Forest Reserve, leaving him unable to walk and in need of rescue, officials said [1, 2]. The hiking group included 27 participants, among them 8 women from the Teachers and Staff Club of SMK Puncak Alam 3 in Selangor, and four mountain guides [1, 2].

The emergency call about the injured hiker came in at approximately 1:21 p.m. on June 7, 2026 [1, 2]. Six firefighters were immediately deployed to carry out the rescue amidst steep, winding terrain and rainy weather conditions [1, 2]. They had to traverse about seven kilometres from the foot of the mountain to the rescue site located near Sungai Bangan Waterfall [1, 2].

Senior Fire Superintendent I Shahrin Yusmar Mat Yusof said, "The 48-year-old male participant suffered a leg injury and was unable to walk due to fatigue from climbing so he had to ask for help from the fire department to be taken out of the mountain" [1]. He added that exhaustion compounded the injury, making the rescue operation critical [2].

The operation took approximately six hours to reach and evacuate the injured man [1, 2]. Firefighters safely brought him down to the Fire Control Post at the mountain foothill, where medical personnel took over care at 11:55 a.m. on June 8, 2026 [1, 2].
