Four 16-year-old teenagers went missing and are feared drowned at Pantai Tanjung Lompat, Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, during a camping trip, authorities confirmed [1, 2, 3]. The group originally consisted of 15 teenagers camping at the beach, and six of them went swimming before the incident occurred [2, 3]. Two of those swimming were rescued, while four went missing [1, 2, 3].

The incident happened when one victim nearly drowned, prompting others to attempt a rescue that resulted in multiple victims being overcome by the sea [1].

The first victim, Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, was found on September 2 around 1:25pm about 500 to 800 meters from the missing location [1, 2]. The second victim, Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor, was found floating near the first victim’s location on September 3 at 1:53pm. Lieutenant Commander Mohamed Shafiee Bakar said, "The victim was found floating at a location near where the first victim was found, about 800 metres away" [1]. He also confirmed the family has identified the second victim's body [2]. The body was brought ashore around 2:50pm and taken for post-mortem at Kota Tinggi Hospital [2].

Two other victims remain missing: Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian and Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, also referenced as Adib Rizqi [1, 2, 3]. Search and rescue operations involve police, the Fire and Rescue Department, maritime zone headquarters, the local community, and fishermen [1, 2, 3]. Rough sea conditions with waves up to 1.5 meters are making rescue efforts difficult [1].

The search radius for the remaining missing extends up to two nautical miles according to some reports [1], while others say it covers up to seven nautical miles northwest of the beach [2]. Lieutenant Commander Mohamed Shafiee Bakar stated, "The search with the other agencies will continue until the victim is found" [2].

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call; one source says this occurred at 8:19am on September 2 [2], while another reports the distress call was received at 6:19pm that same day [3]. Senior Fire Officer I Muhammad Adib Tarmuzi added, "Initial information from the public indicated that six victims were out in the sea. They are all 16-year-old teenagers who were camping at the beach" [3].
