An 18-year-old man named Wah Han Keong died in a road crash at Jalan Losong Feri, Kuala Terengganu on May 19, 2026, at about 3:36pm. The crash involved a Nissan Vanette carrying Wah and his father, Wah Tee Tun, and a Volkswagen Golf GTI driven by a 43-year-old man [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].
According to the Kuala Terengganu police chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, the Volkswagen lost control on the road, skidded, then collided with a Public Works Department (JKR) pole in the center of the road. The pole fell and pierced the van, striking Wah Han Keong in the head. Wah was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries [3, 4, 5].
The police have recorded the driver's statement and expect to charge him under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. The driver tested negative for drugs [3]. Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin said, "Once completed, he will be charged under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving" [3].
Wah had completed his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam last year. Since early 2026, he was helping his father with electrical wiring work. Wah had also recently been accepted to Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin to pursue a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive), a goal his father said he always wanted to achieve [1, 2, 6, 7, 3].
Wah Tee Tun described his son as "very hardworking and sincere. He helped his mother and me a lot. He never complained, never grumbled. He was a very good boy." He added, "Every morning and every night, he would greet us with 'good morning' and 'good night'. Now, there are no more greetings from him" [1]. On May 20, Wah's father stated, "This morning, I checked his application through the Central University Admissions Unit (UPU). It stated that my son had been accepted to continue his studies at Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. He had always wanted to further his studies at the polytechnic" [6].
Wah's body was transported about 140 kilometers from Kuala Terengganu to the Ariyakiri Buddhist Temple in Kampung Aril, Pauh Lima, Kelantan, where cremation took place on May 20 between 1pm and 6pm. Afterwards, his ashes were taken to Wat Kampung Tanggol in Terengganu for final prayers and rites [1, 2, 6, 7].
