Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on the coalition to embrace mature politics and responsible leadership to navigate a complex global environment. He urged BN leaders and supporters to unite and focus on practical solutions to meet current challenges [1, 2].
Marking BN’s 52nd anniversary on June 1, Zahid said the coalition must move forward with a spirit of renewal, combining experience with openness to adapt to future demands [1, 2]. He highlighted the coming general election as the biggest challenge ahead, warning that “the journey ahead will not always be easy” and that BN must prepare for “various terrains” [2].
Zahid recalled BN’s foundation 52 years ago, based on understanding, moderation, and cooperation among Malaysia’s diverse communities to build the nation together [1, 2]. Over the decades, BN has undergone phases of national growth as well as challenges requiring resilience and self-reflection [1, 2].
Despite shifting political landscapes, Zahid stressed that BN’s commitment to serve the people and uphold Malaysia’s stability has not wavered. He said, “However, one thing that has remained unchanged is our commitment to serve the people and uphold the country’s stability” [2].
He expressed appreciation for the dedication and loyalty of BN’s party members and machinery, urging them to remain united and attentive to the needs and sentiments of the people to secure a stronger mandate [1, 2]. The next general election stands as a critical test for the coalition’s ability to maintain unity and respond effectively to national challenges.
