Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence (Mindef) reaffirmed its commitment on June 1, 2026, to strengthen the capabilities and readiness of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) through development of assets, technology, and human capital [1, 2].

The original Air Force Ordinance establishing the force was passed by the Malaysian Parliament on June 2, 1958, creating the Royal Federal Air Force, the RMAF’s predecessor [1, 2]. The force was renamed the Royal Malaysian Air Force following the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963 [1, 2].
"The RMAF plays a vital role in ensuring the security of the country’s airspace and supporting various operations to protect the nation’s interests and sovereignty," Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said [2].
