Malaysia’s Education Ministry has transferred the management of all nine Technical Secondary Schools nationwide to the Fully Residential Schools Management Division (BPSBP) as of June 2026 [1, 2]. Previously overseen by the Technical and Vocational Education Division (BPLTV), the schools will now be renamed Technical Fully Residential Schools (SBP-T) to focus on high-performing academic and technical standards [1, 2].

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced the change on Facebook on June 12, stating, “This initiative places SBP-T on par with other fully residential schools (SBP)” [1]. She explained that the restructuring aims to elevate the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda nationwide while enhancing the quality of technical education [1, 2].

Minister Fadhlina said the new SBP-T schools will develop talent aligned with future industry and national development needs, particularly in STEM and TVET fields [1, 2]. This is expected to provide students with better academic and technical training under the BPSBP’s more specialized management.

According to the Education Ministry, the restructuring affects nine schools across Malaysia, all now designated as Technical Fully Residential Schools. The move marks a significant shift in technical education management to bring these institutions alongside the general fully residential school system [1, 2].

The ministry plans to continue monitoring the SBP-T schools to ensure their standards meet national goals and prepare students skillfully for emerging industries [1, 2].
