Malaysia will hold its National Youth Day 2026 celebration on May 15, with activities staged nationwide at state and district levels [1, 2, 3, 4]. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the three-day event at 9 a.m. at X Park Sendayan, Seremban, marking the program's official launch [1, 2, 3, 4].

Themed "Empowering Madani Youth," the celebration aims to attract 4.3 million participants through diverse programs across five key segments: job creation and employment opportunities; leadership, volunteerism and internationalization; active Malaysia; innovation and digital; and culture, arts and music [1, 2, 3, 4].

The Prime Minister is expected to announce several special youth initiatives during the event, including a Youth Development Action Plan that involves all government ministries. This plan was discussed by the Cabinet Committee on Youth and Sports Development [1, 2, 3, 4].

On May 14, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari officiated the closing ceremony and prize presentation for the 38th Institute of Youth and Sports Skills Training (ILKBS) sports championship at the National Youth Advanced Skills Institute Chembong (IKTBN Chembong) [1, 2, 3, 4]. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to empowering the talents of more than 12,000 IKTBN students nationwide to enhance their employability [1, 2, 3, 4].

Dr Johari emphasized that job opportunities are shifting from a focus on academic achievement to skills-based fields. "They are the future TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) assets of the country. Job opportunities are no longer focused solely on academic excellence; skills-based fields are increasingly important and must be mastered," he said [2].

He added the ministry aims for these talents to be sought not only locally but also internationally. The graduate employability rate among IKTBN students has reached 97 percent [3].

National Youth Day 2026 will officially begin tomorrow, May 15, with the Prime Minister’s special announcements and activities starting the three-day program at X Park Sendayan, Seremban [1, 2, 3, 4].
