Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad was acquitted by the Sessions Court on July 20, 2026, of three charges of abetting her late husband, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, in receiving RM2.8 million in bribes related to a RM150 million Felcra Berhad investment in Public Mutual unit trusts [1, 2, 3]. The charges concerned three transactions on June 12 and 19, 2015, in which money was routed through accounts registered in Zizie's name [4, 5].

The prosecution alleged the bribes were inducements for Bung Moktar, then Non-Executive Chairman of Felcra Berhad, to secure approval from the Finance Minister II for the RM150 million investment in Public Mutual unit trust funds [6, 4]. Zizie consistently denied involvement or knowledge of the bribery and investment [7].

Judge Rosli Ahmad ruled the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and acquitted Zizie. He described her as a credible witness whose testimony was consistent and supported by evidence. He also noted that since the charges against the principal offender, Bung Moktar, were withdrawn after his death, the case against Zizie could not stand [3, 7]. "The accused has successfully raised a reasonable doubt in this case. The accused is acquitted and discharged of all three charges," Judge Rosli said [3].

Bung Moktar Radin died on December 5, 2025. The prosecution decided not to proceed against him, leading to his acquittal on January 16, 2026 [4, 3]. After a legal battle that spanned over seven years, Zizie said she felt relief and asked to be allowed to live a normal life. "Only Allah knows [what I went through]. I am a private person and do not talk about my private life, and seven years of keeping everything inside is enough. And Alhamdulillah, today I feel such relief," she said [6]. She also said, "I have five children to carry and I am a single mother now," referring to her responsibilities following her husband's death [6].

The alleged bribe transactions occurred at Public Bank Berhad's Taman Melawati branch in 2015, involving RM2.8 million [4, 5]. The Felcra Berhad investment amount subject to the controversy was RM150 million [4]. Zizie Izette was 48 years old at the time of her acquittal last month [6].

Zizie concluded her testimony and closed her defense case on March 5, 2026 [4]. The court’s decision on July 20, 2026, marks the formal end of the criminal proceedings against her [1].
