Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged Muslims to set the best example for society through morality, integrity, and diligence during a Maulid Akbar ceremony at Masjid Tengah in Bukit Mertajam on August 28, 2026 [1, 2, 3]. He said, "If people see us working hard, displaying good character, not cheating and not stealing money, they will respect us. We must set a good example" [1].

Anwar emphasized that respect for Muslims should come from positive values such as fulfilling promises and not abusing positions of trust. He highlighted Islam’s message of compassion for all communities regardless of race or religion and stressed balanced living through knowledge, faith, morality, spiritual and physical development alongside material progress [1, 2, 3].

At the Tadabur Mushaf Malaysia Madani programme and the launch of Ma'idah Wanita Madani in Seberang Jaya on the same day, Anwar spoke about Malaysia's Islamic development efforts, noting the government approved an additional RM4.6 million in 2026 to upgrade infrastructure at 27 Islamic education institutions in Penang, more than double the RM2.11 million allocated in 2025 [4]. He encouraged seeking knowledge from Islamic scholars and strengthening relationships between religious leaders through constructive dialogue [1, 2, 3].

Anwar said Malaysia stands out for openly promoting Islamic development via economic, educational, and religious programmes. He urged Malaysians to make full use of their freedom [4].

On August 29, Anwar officiated the 15th Malaysian Scouts Jamboree (MYJAM15) at Penang State Stadium. Over 5,450 scouts from 11 countries are participating in the event, which marks the jamboree’s return to Penang after 60 years [5]. He called for cultivating a knowledgeable, disciplined younger generation rooted in cultural values amid rapid IT and AI advancements. "What is the meaning of development, what is the meaning of a country's success if our children are not instilled with spirit, education, discipline and love? That is why our children must have such a spirit," he said [6, 5].

The MYJAM15 runs from August 29 to September 4, 2026, bringing together local and international youth to foster unity and patriotism [5].
