A 30-year-old man died after being stabbed at a playground in Merlimau, Melaka during a dispute over mushroom-flavored vape liquid on the evening of May 14, 2026 [1, 2]. The victim suffered a stab wound to the right side of his back that pierced his lung, along with head bleeding [1, 2].

He died while receiving treatment at Melaka Hospital at 1:26 pm the following day, May 15 [1, 2]. A second victim, aged 26, sustained cuts to his right hand, right side of his body, and scratches on his face during the same incident [1, 2].

Jasin police chief Supt Lee Robert said, "The victim died while receiving treatment at Melaka Hospital at 1.26 pm today. Another victim, aged 26, sustained cuts to his right hand and right side of the body, as well as scratches on his face. We received a report on the incident last night and have arrested four suspects aged between 20 and 35." [1]

The stabbing occurred around 9 pm at the playground. Police said the altercation began as a misunderstanding during a vape liquid transaction involving the mushroom-flavored product [1, 2]. According to reports, one victim confronted a suspect and used abusive language, which prompted the suspect to chase and attack both victims with a knife [1, 2]. Two other suspects allegedly punched the victims during the confrontation [1, 2].

Both victims fled the scene by car to Klinik Kesihatan Merlimau before being transferred to Melaka Hospital for treatment [1, 2]. Authorities arrested four suspects aged between 20 and 35 in connection with the case [1, 2]. All have prior criminal and drug records; three tested positive for methamphetamine [1, 2].

Police seized clothing, mobile phones, a pair of slippers, and a broken knife with suspected blood stains linked to the stabbing [1, 2]. The investigation is ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder [1, 2].

A post-mortem examination is scheduled at Melaka Hospital on May 16 to determine the exact cause of death [1, 2].
