Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, deputy president of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II and Finance Minister, was appointed deputy chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) on May 13, 2026. The decision was made during the GRS Supreme Council meeting held the same day, which Masidi confirmed by saying, "Yes. We had a GRS Supreme Council meeting this afternoon" [1, 2].
Masidi replaces Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, president of the United Sabah National Organisation (USNO), who resigned from the position prior to Masidi’s appointment [1, 2]. GRS chairman remains Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, PGRS president and Sabah Chief Minister [1, 2].
Alongside Masidi, four other deputy chairmen continue to serve in GRS: Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam from PBS, Tan Sri Anifah Aman of Parti Cinta Sabah, Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah of Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, and Datuk Chin Su Phin from the Liberal Democratic Party [1, 2].
The meeting also appointed Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, as GRS secretary-general, succeeding Masidi in that role [1, 2]. Meanwhile, PGRS secretary-general Razali Razi took over from Armizan as GRS deputy secretary-general [1, 2].
Lo Su Fui, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), was elevated from deputy treasurer-general to GRS treasurer-general [1, 2]. Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, PBS information chief and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, retained his role as GRS information chief [1, 2].
The GRS Supreme Council meeting on May 13 set the new leadership lineup following Pandikar’s resignation. Masidi’s appointment as deputy chairman marks the latest reshuffle within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition [1, 2].
