The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, officially opened the Mahkota Gym at the Indera Mahkota Fire and Rescue Station on June 5, 2026 [1, 2]. The gymnasium serves uniformed personnel including the police, armed forces, navy, air force, and Fire and Rescue Department to maintain physical fitness and enhance their duty performance [1].
The gym is equipped with 15 pieces of fitness equipment such as treadmills, spinning bikes, leg press machines, a Smith machine, battle ropes, and dumbbells [2]. This equipment was donated by Sultan Abdullah to provide firefighters with comprehensive training facilities to help them stay in peak physical condition [2]. He said, "This facility enables them to train more thoroughly and intensively so that they remain fit and ready to fulfil their responsibilities in assisting those in need of help." [2]
The gym operates daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. [2]. Sultan Abdullah encouraged uniformed personnel of all ages to actively use the gym equipment and participate in sports and recreational activities for better health and fitness [1]. He noted that lifelong physical activity combined with structured exercise improves fitness and helps people remain active as they age [1]. He added, "Uniformed government agencies, especially frontline services, should provide on-site facilities that enable personnel to improve their well-being and fitness. The aim is to ensure they remain healthy and physically fit." [1]
At the opening ceremony, Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad and Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim were present [1, 2].
The gym’s availability to multiple uniformed agencies aims to foster better cooperation and readiness across frontline services. The facility’s daily operation from morning to late evening offers flexible access to accommodate demanding work schedules [2].
