The People's Justice Party (PKR) appointed Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as its new election directors in a strategic restructuring aimed at strengthening the party machinery before the next election [1, 2, 3].

Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim announced the reshuffle on May 30 at the Madani Youth Carnival in Padang Rengas, explaining that the move is part of a broader effort to enhance the party's electoral operations [3]. "There is no question of her being unqualified or incapable because she previously served as election director, including during the 14th General Election, when the party successfully formed the government," he said, referring to Nurul Izzah Anwar, the current PKR deputy president who formerly held the election director post [1].

Amirudin Shari brings prior experience as election operations director to his new role. "Previously, Amirudin served as election operations director, giving him the knowledge and experience required. I am confident he will be able to carry out this responsibility effectively," Muhammad Kamil added [2].

The restructuring is intended to refresh leadership roles and optimize campaign strategies ahead of impending elections, without signaling any internal weaknesses [1, 2, 3].

Separate from party affairs, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has flagged possible cost-saving measures in the upcoming Budget 2027 as a response to global economic uncertainties [1, 2, 3]. Muhammad Kamil described this approach as "responsible and necessary for long-term economic sustainability," noting that critical sectors like healthcare and education will remain unaffected [3]. He also assured that government programmes will continue but with a review of spending methods to identify areas for savings. "Related programmes will continue to be implemented, but the government will review its spending methods and approaches to identify areas where savings can be made," he said [3].

The next general election date has not been announced, but PKR’s leadership shift is viewed as a preparatory move for the electoral challenges ahead.
