Datuk Yahya Hashim, a 68-year-old retired army officer, was charged today in the Ayer Keroh Magistrates’ Court with using criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a 20-year-old female golf caddie.

The alleged offence occurred on August 25, 2026, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club, Bukit Katil, along Jalan Gapam in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. The victim was working as a golf caddie and was providing services to Yahya and another unidentified person at the time [1, 2, 3].

Yahya pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment, fine, whipping, or any two of these upon conviction [1, 2, 3].

Deputy public prosecutor Syauqi Mardia Baharudin proposed bail at RM5,000 with a condition prohibiting Yahya from harassing or disturbing the victim, noting "The accused must not contact or harass the victim as the incident occurred at her workplace" [1].

Defense lawyer Melvin Tay requested a reduction in bail, citing Yahya's retired status, lack of fixed income, prostate health condition requiring medical treatment, and residence in Melaka. Tay said, "The accused is a retiree with no fixed income and has a prostate condition requiring medical treatment" [1].

The court set bail at RM2,500 with one surety and ordered Yahya not to contact or harass the victim until the case is concluded [1, 2, 3].

The next court date for the case is scheduled for September 28, 2026 [1, 2, 3].
