Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah of Terengganu is in good health and stable condition as of July 25, 2026. He will continue scheduled follow-up medical treatment abroad as planned by his medical team, the Office of the Sultan of Terengganu confirmed. The Sultan expressed his deep appreciation to the public for their prayers and well wishes. "Alhamdulillah, with the permission and mercy of Allah SWT and through the prayers of all the people, His Royal Highness the Sultan is now in good health," said Dato’ Pengelola Bijaya Diraja of the Sultan’s office. "May Allah continue to bless His Royal Highness the Sultan with good and lasting health, and ease all of his affairs" [1, 2, 3, 4].
On the same day, former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak underwent a coronary angiogram to assess blockages in his coronary arteries. Prior to the procedure, doctors estimated a 95% likelihood he would require intervention such as balloon angioplasty or stent insertion. However, the angiogram revealed the blockages could be managed without these procedures. Najib’s legal team, Messrs Shafee & Co, explained that "the decision to proceed with today’s procedure was based entirely on medical necessity and the clinical findings available at the time. Fortunately, the coronary angiogram demonstrated that the blockages could be managed without the need for balloon angioplasty or stent insertion" [5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10].
Najib remains stable following the procedure and is recovering under close medical supervision. His family and legal team expressed gratitude for the medical care and public support. "Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah SWT, Dato’ Sri Najib is now in good condition and will continue his recovery process under the close supervision of the attending doctors," his legal representatives said. Najib is currently serving a 6-year prison sentence related to SRC International convictions, following a partial royal pardon that reduced it from an original 12 years and an associated fine also reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million [5, 6, 8, 9, 10].
Both updates were officially announced on July 25, with Najib's family and legal team issuing statements on July 26 confirming his stable condition and thanking medical staff and supporters [10].
