Three police officers died from electrocution at Kampung Weston, Beaufort, Sabah, on August 7, 2026, at about 5:50 pm while moving a 29-foot metal pole used to hook coconuts outside the Weston Police Station near Sekolah Kebangsaan Weston [1, 2, 3]. The officers were Constable Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim, 29, and Corporal Chiu Teck Siong, 40, who was from Sarawak [1, 2, 4, 5, 3, 6]. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed the metal pole contacted an electricity cable, causing the fatal shocks [3].

Muhammad Raimi was reportedly 24 or 26 years old, single, and had joined the Weston Police Station in September 2024. He was the second of three siblings [1, 4, 3]. Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim was survived by four siblings and was known to keep in close contact with family via video calls and social media. His eldest sister, Nurlella Rahim, said, "We made video calls with each other almost every day. Although I live in Ipoh, Perak, and my brother was in Sabah, we stayed in touch through video calls and social media." She also recalled his last video call with their mother, describing him as tired but still smiling and trying to reassure her before reporting for work [2, 5, 6].

Muhammad Raimi's funeral took place early on August 8 at Felda Kerteh 2 Muslim Cemetery in Terengganu. About 200 police officers attended. His body was flown from Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Kuantan Air Base and then transported by hearse to the cemetery [1, 4, 3]. Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim was laid to rest later the same morning at Kampung Pangkal Kuang Muslim Cemetery in Ketereh, Kelantan [2, 5, 6].

Muhammad Raimi's step-grandfather, Harun Awang Ngah, aged 70, died around 7:15 am on August 8 from intestinal cancer, approximately six hours after Raimi’s burial. Muhammad Raimi’s father, Ismarubee Ismail, said his stepfather "cried when he was told that his grandson had died after being electrocuted. However, today, my stepfather died while still grieving the loss of his beloved grandson" [3].

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ordered an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the incident. He stated, "The investigation was important to determine the cause of the tragic incident and ensure improvements could be made" [2].
