Two former female clinic workers pleaded not guilty in a Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to a charge of jointly causing the death of a 45-year-old woman during an alleged abortion procedure at a clinic on Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang. [1, 2]

The accused were named as Philomena Mathias, 83, and Rusbur Kaur Partab Singh, 73. [1, 2]

The charge was brought under Section 314 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine on conviction. [1, 2]
