Two former clinic workers charged over woman's death in Kuala Lumpur

Two former female clinic workers pleaded not guilty in a Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to a charge of jointly causing the death of a 45-year-old woman during an alleged abortion procedure at a clinic on Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang. ^{[1, 2]}

The accused were named as Philomena Mathias, 83, and Rusbur Kaur Partab Singh, 73. ^{[1, 2]}

The charge was brought under Section 314 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine on conviction. ^{[1, 2]}

Deputy public prosecutor Syafika Azwa Fikri prosecuted the case, while lawyer George Loh represented the two accused. ^{[1, 2]}

The court allowed bail of RM3,000 each with one surety and set 29 June 2026 for mention. ^{[1, 2]}
