A 62-year-old woman working as a counter attendant at a number forecast operator outlet in Taman Pusat Kepong was allegedly doused with petrol and set on fire on the morning of August 9, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4]. The victim suffered burns covering approximately 50 percent of her body [2, 3, 4]. She was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition [2, 3, 4].
Police have launched a special operation and are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the scene to identify and track down the suspect. Sentul acting district police chief Superintendent Jasni Zolpa said, “We have collected CCTV footage and are in the process of reviewing it. The identity of the suspect and motive for the attack are still subject to further investigation.” [2]
Around 20 people including family members, co-workers, and operators of nearby premises have been interviewed [3].
