Firmus Technologies announced plans to build its first data centre in Indonesia, a 360 megawatt Nvidia DSX AI Factory campus in Batam. The project is in partnership with Singapore-based DayOne and US chip maker Nvidia [1, 2, 3, 4].

The Batam facility will be a multi-tenant campus serving AI-native customers. It is part of an eight-year collaboration between Firmus and Nvidia and is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027. DayOne is responsible for building the facility [1, 2, 3].

Under a revenue-sharing and credit-support agreement, Firmus will have access to up to 170,000 Nvidia AI accelerator chips throughout 2027 and 2028 to support customer workloads [1, 2, 3].

Firmus expects to generate between US$25 billion and US$30 billion in committed offtake agreements from the Nvidia partnership over the initial six years [1, 2, 3, 4]. The company valued at US$5.5 billion after raising US$505 million in an April 2026 funding round led by Coatue Management, with Nvidia participating [1, 2, 3].

Firmus co-CEO Tim Rosenfield said, "We’re building our business based on demand that we’re seeing from customers and contracts that we’re closing. Funding and capital remains extremely strong, as we speak" [1]. He added that recent volatile market sentiment around chip demand is largely irrelevant to their business development, which relies on solid customer demand [2].

Founded in 2019 as a Bitcoin mining company in Tasmania, Firmus has expanded into AI data centre projects across Australia and Singapore [1, 2, 3]. It also signed an agreement last year with CDC Data Centers to develop up to 1.6 gigawatts of data centre capacity in Australia by 2028, powered by Nvidia chips. This project has attracted an unnamed global hyperscaler client [1, 2].

Firmus plans to undertake an initial public offering (IPO) in 2026, although the company declined to comment on details [1, 2, 3].

The Batam AI Factory campus is on track for its scheduled opening in Q1 2027, marking Firmus’s first AI data centre effort in Indonesia [1, 2, 3].
