Train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT line were suspended on the morning of May 18 between Senja and Petir or Bukit Panjang stations after a man trespassed on the tracks near Segar station around 5 a.m. SMRT described the incident as a "track intrusion," causing the disruption to rail operations [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Some reports cite the suspension between Senja and Petir stations, while others name the closure between Senja and Bukit Panjang stations [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. The affected section covers a portion of the 8-kilometre Bukit Panjang LRT line, which connects residential areas in Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang to the North-South and Downtown MRT lines [3, 4, 5].

Police and fire services responded at the scene near Segar and Jelapang stations following the incident. Around 7 a.m., SMRT clarified that the man was seen to have fallen onto the track [5].

Throughout the disruption, train services remained available between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang stations [2, 3, 4, 5]. To help commuters affected by the suspension, free bridging bus and regular bus services were activated. SMRT also offered e-Travel Chits from its website as proof of travel for those impacted [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

The Bukit Panjang LRT line is currently undergoing renewal works, including replacing the power rail. Approximately 88% of these works were completed as of November 2025, with full completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 [2, 3, 4, 5]. The line has operated with a new communications-based train control signalling system since November 8, 2025 [2, 5].
