Singapore opened its largest public fast-charging hub for electric commercial vehicles on July 13, 2026, located at the JIC Inspection Centre, 2E Jalan Papan in Jurong [1, 2, 3]. The facility features 46 charging points, with 6 on level one and 40 on level five. Each level five charger draws power from 360 kW cabinets that can power up to six electric vehicles simultaneously [1, 2, 3].
The chargers can add up to 300 kilometers of driving range in 10 minutes depending on the vehicle's capability. For electric buses, charging from 20% to 80% battery capacity takes less than two hours, which is significantly faster than the four to six hours required by most commercial chargers [1, 2, 3]. The hub serves all electric vehicles but is especially suited to larger commercial vehicles, with a 4.2-meter height limit and ample space for buses and trucks [1, 3].
The charging cost is set at 59.8 cents per kilowatt-hour [1, 2, 3]. Volt Singapore, the EV charging unit of Keppel, operates the hub under a 15-year contract and plans to open another fast-charging site in Singapore by 2027 [1, 2].
Volt Singapore’s executive director, Lim Yong Wei, said, "The operator will increase the number of charging spaces to 70 when utilisation rate is between 50 per cent and 80 per cent" [1]. The hub mainly supports electric buses operated by ComfortDelGro, including shuttle services for NTU and NUS [3].
Senior Minister of State for Transport, Sun Xueling, attended the launch and posted on Facebook that "The hub supports the electrification of Singapore’s heavy vehicle fleet, boosting the number of charging stations for such vehicles by 30 per cent" [3].
By the fourth quarter of 2026, a dedicated rest area for EV drivers is scheduled to be established at the hub to provide comfort during charging sessions [1, 2, 3].
