Oreo and South Korean group BTS announced a limited-edition purple hotteok-inspired Oreo cookie to be released on June 8 in Singapore and more than 80 markets globally [1, 2, 3]. The cookie features a brown sugar pancake flavor inspired by the Korean dessert hotteok, which BTS member Jin described as a "national snack" in Korea they wanted to share worldwide [3].
The new Oreo is the brand's first purple cookie, chosen to honor BTS's signature color [2, 3]. It has 13 unique embossment designs celebrating BTS's 13th anniversary, including member names, their iconic light stick, and messages for their ARMY fandom [1, 2, 3]. Jimin praised the cookie’s look, saying, "Of course the taste matters, but it’s also really pretty. They made it really well" [3].
Simon Crowther, Oreo’s managing director for Malaysia and Singapore, called the partnership their "biggest collaboration to date," adding it creates a "shared cultural moment for a new generation of consumers" by transforming fans into active participants [1, 2]. BTS said they feel honored, with the group sharing, "We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now Oreo is helping us share a taste of home with the world" [1]. J-Hope said he was "really, really honoured" to join Oreo's history of celebrity partnerships [2].
In Singapore, the Oreo BTS hotteok multipack will retail for SGD 3.60, while other options include a BTS vanilla multipack at SGD 3.60 and a mini vanilla pack at SGD 1.50 [1]. From June 22 to July 5, Oreo will host a pop-up event at FairPrice Xtra VivoCity where the public can sample the hotteok cookie and submit "love letters" to BTS [1, 2]. Qualifying purchases at the pop-up will offer Oreo BTS-themed merchandise such as stickers, plates, and aprons [1, 2].
This collaboration follows Oreo's past projects with Blackpink, Selena Gomez, and Post Malone [1]. BTS will also perform concerts in Singapore from December 17 to 22, with ticket presales starting June 3 and general sales on June 5. Tickets range from SGD 148 to SGD 388 [2].
